This year I was demo-ing again and before I left I got the camera out of Kerry's bag ... and then promptly left it on the table at home. So much for Open House pictures!! But even better, I will share with you what I was demo-ing and I'll even give you some instructions on how to recreate some of the cards ...
I wanted to demo the Presto Patterns Specialty Paper #117175 only $11.95 for a pack of 12 sheets. This is in the Summer Mini catalog (page 15) AND the New 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog (page 172) - when I saw it I thought it was really cool but wasn't exactly sure how it worked. Well, it's actually very easy ... and you need is ink, a brayer and a sponge or two. Smooch comes in handy too.
This first card uses 2 of the papers and Perfect Plum ink. Ink up your brayer very well and roll it over the paper. To get a nice even tone you will need to brayer the ink on many times - at least a dozen. You need to apply the ink from all different directions so be sure and rotate the paper. Once you have the color you want you are done! If you want a little bling try spraying it with smooch. I used silver smooch and it came out really pretty (smooch is on page 195 of the new catalog). Trim and adhere the patterned paper to Whisper White card stock, add ribbon. The words are from Perfect Punches (page 131 in the new catalog).
To get the distressed look in the thank you card, I used So Saffron ink and just brayered it 4 or 5 times. I also used the cutter tool to distress the edges of both the Presto paper and the Cherry Cobbler in the background. The base of the card is Early Espresso and so is the 1/8" ribbon. The Mini Vintage tags really finish the card off with a distressed look especially when combined with the Rough Type stamp set from the Summer Mini page 14. The tags are actually rusty!! Soooo coool ... and a perfect accent.
For the green card, I used Wild Wasabi as the base (welcome back Wild!!) and sponged Wild Wasabi ink directly onto the Presto paper. Then I stamped the Presto paper with the flower found in the Because I Care level 1 hostess set (page 11 in the Idea Book and Catalog). Used Perfect Plum ink and the card stock on top of Wild Wasabi is also Perfect Plum. I cut the flower piece into 4 pieces when I was done. Adhere them to the Perfect Plum cardstock. The words come from the same hostess stamp set. Finish it off with the 5/8" organza ribbon (page 190).
This is a 12x12 scrapbook page. Uses the entire sheet of Presto paper. I basically made my own paper for it. First you should brayer the whole page with So Saffron. It will be very light which is fine. The take your So Saffron Stampin Spot and rub it all over the page. It will create an uneven, deeper color that still looks distressed. To get the darker framed edges I used a sponge and Soft Suede ink. The photos are mounted with Early Esrpresso and Cherry Cobbler card stock. It was intentional that the picture of Caitlin and Kerry is mounted differently than the others - I used the corner rounder and Cherry Cobbler on top of Early Espresso card stock. The colors are reversed on the remaining photos. This slight change makes the girls' photo stand out more than the others.
To get the light design on the paper, I used the swirl stamp from the Elements of Style (Summer Mini catalog page 13) stamp set and Early Espresso ink. In order to get a light color, be sure and stamp off twice before stamping your page. Be sure to be consistent - stamp off twice each time. I used the cherish stamp from the Baroque Motifs stamp set (Idea Book page 132) and Early Espresso ink - again, be sure to stamp off twice. I wanted the cherish to blend into the background, not stand out. The mini heart is punched from Cherry Cobbler and distressed with Early Espresso ink and mounted onto a Mini Vintage Tag. The words are are from the Elements of Style stamp set and stamped with full strength Early Espresso ink.
I used the Rough Type stamp set to stamp the words, then I punched them out using the tag punch. I sponged So Saffron ink on to the paper and used the cutter tool to distress all four sides. Then I swooched some Soft Suede onto the edges and the fronts a little. I used a cropadile to set the large grommet and tied several strands of twine in the grommets. The I crunched the tags gently and adhered them with dimensionals.
To finish the look completely, I framed it with a black 12x12 frame. I really love this page! Give the Presto Patterns papers a try ... you can create ANY color of DSP - grab any ink and a brayer! Think of the possibilities ... match any party's theme - a bride's colors, a graduating class ... the possibilities are endless!
